The battle map only scrolls at about a hexagon every second for me. Is this intended? Is there any way I can speed it up? It's painfully slow to check around for where my enemies are as it is.

How is your framerate? Are animations also very slow?
The battle map is usually pretty smooth for me.

Yes, they are, rather. I'm not sure why, but I'll look into it tomorrow.

The battle map was always smooth for me, but terribly slow nevertheless. It sucks how you can't zoom out more.

The latest patch (1.4.5) should make scrolling "framerate independent", so might be worth trying once you get the patch (if you haven't already).
