Hello,

I own EG on Steam, however the game wont run with this error message:

Elixir App D3D:
Genreic App Error. Enable Debug OUtput for detailed information. Switching to the reference rasterizer, a software device that implements the entire D3D Feature set, but runs very slowly.

Now I attribute that to DX11 not being downwards compatible, however this would mean the version sold on GOG is different.

Could someone here with a 480 GTX and Win 7 64 Bit let me know if he can play the game?

I asked tech support for help here but they havent replied since 6 days ...

I think you can run DX9 and DX11 side by side on win7. Have you tried installing that?
I have windows 7 starter on a netbook and I just bought the GOG version today and was initially running into the same issue. Thanks to info and links provided by others on these boards, here is what eventually ended up working for me: (note - u may be able to skip steps 1 and 2, as it was step 3 that got it working for me, but i had already done the first two by then)

1) downloaded and installed the unofficial 1.1 patch from here
http://www.n1nj4.com/EvilPlanet/TheGame/mod_unofficialpatch.php

2) installed the world domination pack from GOG

3) downloaded and extracted Racer_S's Resolution Changer Version 2, from here:
http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6726

extract the Resolution Changer2 files into your Evil Genius\ReleaseExe directory. From there, open resolution.ini and change the resolution to something simple like width=800, height=600 and save the file. The game seemed to run normally for me after doing this.

I don't know if our issues are caused by the same thing, but I believe the reason I was getting the error message was due to the game trying to use a resolution like 1024x768, while my netbook doesn't support resolution higher than 600 on height. Hope this helps.
