At certain moments in the game, strong, sudden, massive white flashes of almost whole screen happen - please, remove them.

Example (current version): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2h5JvrQWiQ

Reasons:

- ~59% of modern people already suffer from varies degree of eye strain from devices
(source: https://www.allaboutvision.com/cvs/irritated.htm )

- white flashes makes it worse, because, quote, "flickering from digital screens can be hard on your eyes"
(source: https://www.webmd.com/eye-health/prevent-digital-eyestrain )

- white flashes can trigger seizures in some people
(source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photosensitive_epilepsy#Games ).

P.S. Perhaps replacing white color for that flash's color with something dark blueish color could be best? I'd try something like that. So that during the flash, overall light emission from the screen would be nearly same to regular-scene level of light, while color change would still deliver the impression of "entering supralight".

We had a similar issue in closed beta (v0.2.10550). We did tune down the duration and intensity of the flash.
Anyways, I'll reopen the ticket for Marco to decide if we need to tune it down even further or if we even want to handle space- and daylight-locations differently. Thanks for your Feedback.

Right. One more thing: in addition to proposing some "dark blue" (or some other dark) color to replace white pixels during the flash, here's one more thing to possibly consider: some mostly-dark "transition animation" - something similar to how (excellently) Persona 5 did it (black-and-red animation on entering Mementos / palaces).

Which, if you are not familiar, you can see in ~13 seconds after going this link:

Hey Rockfish please give me a setting to disable the flash when entering supralight. I'm tired of closing my eyes and looking away every time I'm going to travel between locations. Here's a rule of thumb: if you can see it with your eyes closed, it's too damn bright.

I bought the game Mar 31, 2021 and waited two years to play the full game. Now I'm debating the choice to drop it every time I enter supralight because of the flash.

I know others might not mind so I'm requesting a setting instead. Please fix this.

I am also hoping for a settings option to turn off this particular flash so I don't need to close the eyes every time I travel.

Another idea would be make the flash transition last longer in time. Now it is too bright too quickly so maybe longer transition wouldn't be as bad.
Old thread but agreed on this. This game is very hard on my eyes and I can feel it. I had to disable motion blur and increase the FOV to max + max stiffness already but the extremely bright point lights and flashes are really irritating to my eyes still and there is no way to mitigate them because lower gamma = can't see. It's probably fine TV distance away but on a monitor it's too much.
