I'd like to play Etherlords 2 on my mac but since their isn't an OSx version, I was wondering if anyone has had any luck running this under wine. If so, which engine? Thanks!

thirdworldorder: I'd like to play Etherlords 2 on my mac but since their isn't an OSx version, I was wondering if anyone has had any luck running this under wine. If so, which engine? Thanks!
I've managed to get both Etherlords and Etherlords 2 running on the latest Wine wrapper (2.5.12) using a patched engine (WS9Wine1.7.11-noflicker-verbeet - which is available here: https://github.com/lnxbil/WineskinEngines ).

Process I used:
1) Create new wrapper using above wrapper and engine.
2) Run the Winetrick for "msxml3". May require some manual download of the package, so be sure to read the output window.
3) Install game.
4) Play.

Etherlords 1 has an error at the end of installation, but this does not seem to cause problems with early play that I've seen.

Non-patched engines can technically run the game once msxml3 is in place, with some caveats: In windowed modes it seems mostly okay, but fullscreen gets wonky with horrible flicker that never seems to get officially fixed in official Wine engines (hence the patched version on github ... and the flicker may not technically be Wine's fault, but whatever... the patched engine works). Windowed modes, while lacking flicker, have the downside of laggy mouse, however.

I'm pretty new to Wine installs myself, so I'm not completely sure I can help beyond that... but it does seem to be working pretty well.
