Maybe a stupid question, but I wonder how do you actually use items you picked up? I feel a bit silly just for asking since the game appears simple enough and has basic instructions explicitly displayed, but I haven't seen any tutorial message for combining items with objects yet, and I'm a bit worried that I might miss something.

In the Ether One Institute, for example, I picked up a film reel and tried to put it in the projector in the same room, but it didn't work. When I clicked on the projector, there was only a clicking sound and nothing else. Whether I carried the reel or not didn't make any difference. When I pressed E to examine the reel, so that it was displayed on screen, a left click in front of the projector just put the reel back into my pocket, while a right click just zoomed on the reel ... Does that mean that the projector doesn't work or that it can't be combined with the film reel, at all or at this particular time in the game, or am I doing something wrong? :/

Okay, I am stupid. Apparantly I'm not the only one though. ;)

Still quite an unusual design decision, to introduce a key for highlighting usable objects and then require the player to interact with hotspots that are not highlighted ... Anyway, never mind. /thread closed

Maybe it's not fully intuitive at the beginning, but it works well during the game :)

In the mine, where the two compressor devices are... happens that they work with the brown bottle you find in the locker, but not with one of the green beer bottles you find on the picnic place at the beginning.
What .. the .. fuck... is my patient smoking :|

Desperately needing a hotspot key which shows all hotspot text immediately and not just from the one you hover your mouse over after 5 seconds. I mean, it's not the gamer's fault he can't interact with all objects, so throw me a bone here... but I don't blame this game in particular, it's many adventure games which don't throw me the bone.
