Argoon: I detected a gl.dll render in the game directory and i saw that on the environment.cfg file it was using the Direct3D8 render as default, so by curiosity i changed it to OpenGL started the game and bam! much better graphics, the game menu became a tad dark but in game it looks miles better then the D3D8 version. This is no surprise because back then OpenGL was much superior to D3D.

Leroux: Hey, thanks a lot for the tip! I'm under the impression that it also makes the game run a lot smoother, at least in my case. Before, on my rig the game speed was alternating in some levels, occasionally slowing down for a few seconds before going back to normal, not exactly lagging but it felt like swimming through molasses ... All that seems gone with OpenGL. Great, now I can enjoy the game even more. :)

Yeah, but in the mean time I'll necro it...
To the OP, yeah was just about to change the settings as I get a complete black screen/input freeze HDD still running so don't want to Hard reset too many times...
