Nice! Thanks for that!
There is also the site of the Nova mod:
https://web.archive.org/web/20180722215459/http://website.lineone.net/~rwein/nova/home.htm

I noticed that GOG doesn't show the link in a directly clickable way (probably because it contains the ~ character).
The real link is inside the brackets [...] without url=.
Copy and paste it to your browser, or highlight it, right-click and then click either open link or open link in new tab.

For newbies like me here are the 4 main mods I heard about for now :
"Reality Mod"
"Emperor Wars"
"Hyperion"
"Nova Mod"

May I ask, what's the difference between "Reality Mod" and "Emperor Wars" ?

I must understand that the GOG version comes with a dx wrapper to work in newer windows and even the music is functional. Do the mods work fine with the GOG version fixes?

Splatsch: "Nova Mod"

Reality is probably best described as a continuation of Vanilla, with a little extra lore flavor from the sourcebooks, and a big emphasis on the whole 'climb out of the Dark Age' schtick. Its biggest change by far is that Factories take 10 turns to build, and cost a lot of resources, many of which are locked behind tech that takes a while to unlock. It is a slow-burn mod.

Emperor Wars I believe started as a mod of Reality, but it took things a step further regarding the lore from the fluff. So instead of each Major House starting with only one planet, the Known Worlds are divided up among the major houses (and the League, and the Church). It also does a drastic overhaul of units and technology, adding a TON of special units. But by far the biggest change is that most of the Known Worlds are divved up and you start off with a lot more going on than in vanilla. Its primarily designed for Multiplayer and to let people jump right into action instead of having the slow expansion of vanilla.

On my PC Hyperion and Nova work (except that I can't say anything about sounds and music).

Thanks for the info.

Speaking about audio, Correct me If I am wrong, the music probably works with a different wrapper "winimm" or something simlar to emulate the original redbook audio, so I wonder if it is still functional in case any mod used its own exe or overwrote it. It should work, it is a dll. But well, It would be good to know exactly.

Greetings
Tried installing the emperor wars mod but when launching the game it request to start in 256 colors.
I modified the exe to force start in 256 colors but everyhting stays dark colored.
So I think they work. I jsut ignored the patch on the Emperor wars website, cause I assume it was for the abandon ware version. I only loaded them for like 10mins so no idea if theres any major issues, but Reality mod launched fine, and seemed to be working with all the added stuff. Emperor wars is I think Working. I'm not sure enough of the difference, but when I installed it on top of the reality one the game still launched and every faction had like 4 planets, and there were tons of units I haven't seen in vanilla. It still said just 'reality mod' on the main menu though?

Thats what happened to me when I installed the patch. When I ignored it and instaled just the mods it seemed to work
