Even though I've been playing Morrowind (as an Orc spellcaster with the Atronach birthsign) right now, I feel tempted to start up a new game of Oblivion, with many of the tweaks I mentioned in a couple other topics. I am wondering what you think of the build (remember, with the tweaks I plan on making, it makes sense for Major skills to be the ones I actually use, not the ones I don't). I am going to have one self-imposed restriction: No using Telekineses effects to regain magicka. (Other methods of regaining Magicka are fair game.) Anyway, I came up with this build to try.
Race: High Elf (high movement, also more magicka)
Birthsign: Atronach (now that I'm familiar with the game, I want to try something a bit different)
Attribute focus: Strength, Endurance (I don't feel like doing luck this time, and I don't need much Intelligence (350 Magicka should be enough for a while, and Willpower is useless with this birthsign)
Specialization: Magic (My character will still primarily be a mage)
Major Skills:
* Conjuration (great for regaining Magicka (summon a ghost and absorb its spells/magicka)
* Restoration (long duration spells when maxed (cast spell when magicka is high and the effect can be kept when magicka is low), plus Absorb Magicka)
* Destruction (offense when Magicka is high, also want that Weakness to Magicka effect for enchanting)
* Alchemy (Restore Magicka potions, of course)
* Blade (need something to use when out of magicka, and this seems to be a better choice than Blunt)
* Alteration (Shield spells, though it's possible to use Alchemy to get that effect as well, but there is the 4 potion limit; also, in case I need Feather spells, though I would prefer not to need them)
* Illusiion (seems more useful than Mysticism, and it gives me light)
Note that this build omits Mysticism; I will need Soul Trap from this school, but the other spells tend to either not be that useful (Detect Life, Dispel) or impractical in spells (Spell Absorption, Reflect Damage/Spell (if I can even get Reflect Damage).
So, how does this build look?
(As a side note, if you want to encourage me to play some more Morrowind, suggest something to do that doesn't involve quests or killing non-respawning actors.)
