How do I install game version 1.5.97 for Skyrim Special Edition? Bethesda is constantly updating and breaking legacy mods that nobody is patching anymore and I need version 1.5.97 for best compatibility. Older forum posts show it as an option under configure in GOG galaxy but the show more option isn't available. What gives?

That was never a thing.
1.6.659 (September 2022) is the first version on GOG.

1.5.97 (November 2019) is Steam exclusive (DRM). Theoretically, you can install GOG version (currently 1.6.1179), copy the Steam 1.5.97 files and overwrite it... but this means that you will need to have a valid Steam license to install + start the game, which completely defeats the purpose of having the game on GOG.

So you're saying I'm stuck with this Anniversary Edition slop? I mean... thanks for letting me know. It just reaks that I very much bought Special Edition and I'm saddled with a completely different version of the game. What a waste.
