Earlier last year I had played through Arena with a Breton Knight and that worked out beautifully and eventually I might actually do a Mage character now that I actually get how the magic system in this and Daggerfall work.Back on topic I also went an replayed Daggerfall for my second complete run and when I was making my character I found a video on youtube,a new and improved version of the Boilerplate build from the man himself now under the name Tax0nomical.I used this build as a frame work to make my character,a custom build Breton Spellsword who was just amazing,I never enjoyed this game more than I did with this character.
Here's a like to those who are interest and those having trouble with this game.

Newbie Tip:Magic especially utility magic and buffs is very useful in this game, always make custom spells and remember spells level with you in this game so a relatively weak spell at creation with the right modifiers and leveling can become a really good spell right in time for when you need it.Some form of spell resistance, absorption or reflection is pretty much mandatory for this game at high levels.

Actually, you don't really need that. There are really just two things that make the game really easy when combined:

1. Lots of HP, obtained by creating a custom class.
2. A custom Regeneration spell that restores all of that HP every 5 (IIRC) seconds. Such a spell is far cheaper to make and cast then it ought to be.

Now you can't die unless an enemy manages to cut down all you HP in 5 seconds, as you are fully healed if the enemy doesn't manage to do so. Better yet, this doesn't even require that much Restoration to pull off.
I made sure to pick 30 hp at level up and the regeneration spell is pretty sweet to the point of being almost OP
So I guess Spell Resistance isn't as mandatory as previously stated. But I found it useful in my playthrough then again I didn't really even try to fight Liches,Ancient Liches,Vampire Ancients and Daedra Lords without it active to know how I would have fared.I hope this info and build are useful to someone.

By the way DTGreene do you have any build advice for Battlespire?
