Hi!

So I got Earthworm Jim 3D yesterday, but sadly it doesn't seem to work at all. When I try to launch the game, I get an icon in the taskbar, which promptly disappears again after a few seconds.
I've searched around for a solution though it seems no one else has had this problem before.
I've tried running the game in various compatibility modes, though I got the same result every time.

I'm on Win10, and any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Really have no idea what to do to make the game work.

Thanks for reading.

Same problem here! Just wanted you to know it wasn't just you.
I tried contacting support about it, though to no avail. None of the suggested fixes worked for me, sadly. Had to get a refund for it.
I'm convinced that it either isn't compatible with Win10, or the 64-bit version of it (probably the latter).

I'd suggest hitting up the support team. Maybe your system will support the game after applying the fixes they recommend to you.

Edit:

I won't mark the thread as solved until a definitive answer has been posted regarding compatibility. Once there is confirmation, I'll gladly consider this "solved" (don't want anyone to run into this thread and be misled by a false solved status).

only way i've been able to get it to work so far is via the fix on this web-page.

https://www.speedrun.com/ewj3d/guide/dmfo9

it gives a link to a download:

https://mega.nz/file/fIQmgBLZ#ktHVJZveJKc5OFK41Cdyj0F9-2a7gWzgTydVxVecc6k[/url]

which actually includes the entire game iso's as well, although i didn't need to use those. i just replaced all the files across from the extracted jim3d folder (dxwnd, .exe, etc) except for the data and map folders, into the installation folders for the gog version.

then i run the game through the dxwnd program copied into the game folder, just be sure to select the correct path to the gog game from the Edit menu. the game is windowed but at least it works.

good luck

Sorry about the late response. I haven't been on GOG for a few months now...

I tried the above mentioned solution, but had the same problem. It would attempt to launch, then suddenly close. Using DXwnd didn't make it work either... I'm pretty sure the game just doesn't like my computer for some reason. No idea what the problem could be.

In any case, I will pick it as the solution. I have no doubts that it will work for most who would like to get the game running on their machines.

Thank you for your input!
Hey! This did it! I copied over the jim3d folder right into the GoG installation, and it launched! I haven't tried it with the windowed mode yet, but this is something!

If anyone is having the text display issue with 4K screens:
Go to Windows display settings > set Text size (and other thingies) to 100% > Fixed!
