This was one of those games I remember people fighting over for the Mega-Drive rental when it was released at the shops. OR at least, a couple of arguments on who would get it for the weekend.
This version is for DOS, so it misses a few things and adds others. Most importantly, higher quality audio and graphics.
Well known for it's varied level design, characters and humour, EWJ1 is the most difficult and sometimes frustrating. If you recall games where you had to memorise timing and sequences to win, you can apply a similar idea here. EWJ2 eases up a bit, and should not give you as much trouble.
There are a few odd things, controls can sometimes be difficult translated to a keyboard and feel unresponsive. But you need to learn to hold keys for a bit rather press them. And in some levels, it's very easy to run out of ammo, while it does recharge, it does so slowly.
Despite this, it's great to return to the early-mid 1990s for a couple of days and re-live the experience.
