I'm playing (skirmish - world of magic) with Necromancer as my main hero. I thought only mages could permanently control undead units. Instead I noticed I can pass my units to other heroes in heroes exchange panel, or put them into the garrison in my city. Having 5 level skill in both necromancy and evocation I can create and give to my other heroes undead units with a level 17 as starting level! This seems to me a little overpowered. What you think about it?
I think only mages with a certain necromancy skill should be able to control undead units.

Hello

I think the counterparts of this are the upkeep (no swamps... difficult), the fact that your undeads wich aren't with a necromancer (a mage with necromancy skill) will not regenerate hitpoints between turns, and the undeads never get medals. These things make the undeads a bit less overpowered i think
asbrudael I agree with you. Being in "world of magic" spells, buildings, and units upkeep costs half crystals. I had a big advantage because I had to worry about crystals only in the firsts turns. Next match I will try a different world (I was thinking world of war and to go with commander as first hero). Ghosts and vampires (starting level 17) in the hands of other heroes are very powerful because of their abilities. Moreover you can always cast spells like vampirism for health. But once again I guess in other types of worlds crystals would be a main concern.
Thanks for the answer:)

Yes it is confirmed. I've tested it again. Every hero can guide undead troops. They won't disappear after a fight (unless killed in the fight of course:D).

legionarius769: Ghosts and vampires (starting level 17) in the hands of other heroes are very powerful because of their abilities.
They're powerful in certain situations, but in other situations will die very quickly. Against level 1 and 2 enemies with only physical attacks ghosts are nearly immune to damage, but any enemies with magic attacks will kill them very quickly, and level 3 and 4 units can often pump out enough damage to overcome the ghost's armor. On top of that ghosts have extremely low HP for a tier 3 unit, and also have pretty low damage relative to other tier 3s. As for vampires, their health drain means you can throw them into a mob of level 1 and 2 units and just watch the carnage, but put them up against an enemy that can deal damage faster than they vampire can leech life and they're toast. Going toe to toe with just about any other tier 4 unit a vampire will lose, and even some tier 3 units with the right promotions and medals can pose a serious threat to vampires.

Ultimately undead can be a nice stop-gap measure and provide you access to tier 3 and 4 units before you'd otherwise be able to get them, but in terms of overall power they fall short when compared to the other units that later become available.
yeah I agree with you DarrkPhoenix.
The big pro of Undead is...that you can replace them so easly.
Loosing a Lev. 17 veteran really hurts but a Necromage just create a new one.
