Do we get a GOG version if we own this game on STEAM? And if not, do we get a huge discount then? I'm interested in a DRM free version for my collection but don't pay the full price (-17% is not much) again for a game that I already own and next time, please put it on GOG at the release date not months after were everyone already owns a steam version.
17% is the best you can get for now. Just buy it again it's well worth it!
Do you buy your car twice just because it's worth the money? I don't think. I'm asking anyway because I believe that GOG sometime said that they want to offer the possibility for people to buy games only once at any platform and play it on another platform without purchasing it twice.

GOG and Steam are competitors. You don't buy a can of Coke and then go to a Pepsi vendor asking for a free or discounted Pepsi can just because you bought a cola elsewhere.
Do GOG expect then after MONTHS after release that people will pay the FULL price again? I mean most people will alrady have purchased the STEAM version on release. I don't see any reason to pay over 40€ again for something I already own.

But if there is no discount and no free gog version for owners of the game then it's fine to me as I just won't get a DRM free version from GOG then.

I think GOG just sell DRM-free games. They are not expecting this or that. Many people, like me, don't own the game yet (on any store). Buy the game if you want, or else, don't.

I bought the game on Steam when it came out, never dreaming that GOG would have it soon.

And I love the game, so when it popped up on GOG, I bought it again, just to have the DRM-free version. And yes I am very frustrated, but I mostly blame myself for not having the patience to wait. But again, I never thought in a million years it would turn up here.

Lesson learned. No more Steam games. GOG has a good enough selection of games that I should be able to find something I want to play.

Sure, I won't be able to play all of the "latest and greatest" immediately on release day, but I am confident that GOG is working diligently to try and make this happen, so I will try to be more patient.

That's basically what I'm going to do. I finally turned off my autostart steam community login which is helping me break free from it.

I don't mind buying it a second time because it is one of very few excellent games I've played in recent years. It has features like LAN mode that is rarely implimented nowadays and I don't mind showing my support by buying twice. With that said, not every game is so great I would buy it again and I'd much rather have my games on GoG.

I know quite a few people, myself included, that won't use Steam. At work, the new games released on GoG has become a topic of conversation.

If everyone stuck to their guns, we wouldn't have Steam, Origin, Uplay... We'd still have the rack of under $10 games at our local stores still. Remember those racks?

I find it interesting that you often hear about lost revenue from piracy, but never hear about customers lost. For example, the last Total War game I played was Medieval II because of Steam. Civ IV was the last Civ game I played. It's their loss, not mine.

I just bought Dying Light.... wonder how long it takes to download? LOL

2 months. It's been released on Steam 2 months prior to the GOG release. Do you really expect GOG to sell a 2 months old game for cheaper than the full price?

Actually, most people don't buy games on release, and buy them much later discounted.

Most gamers I talk to and play with don't pre-order games anymore, and many won't even buy on release either.
Too many games have been over hyped and more and more people are starting to catch on to that and hold their money until the game is at least patched (and some user reviews from people who've played more than a handful of hours are finally posted).

Which means that waiting a month or two is something they'd already be doing. These days I personally just plan to wait at least 3-5 months after release before I purchase a game unless it's free to play (so no purchase needed) or from a company I know I can count on to be both considerate to their customers and provide a DRM free version (funny how often those two go together, but that's another topic) such as cd projekt red, inxile, and the like.

Realistically it's no more reasonable to expect GOG to discount a games listed price below what the publisher/devs have it set at then it is to expect STEAM to discount games below publisher/devs list price because it's on GOG.
i have mailed Techland (dying light editor) for a gog Key, but they decline my request...

Yeah. The poster got exactly what he paid for. The product that Steam sold was a DRM-laden copy of Dying Light. The product he paid for is a DRM-laden copy of Dying Light. To use yet another analogy, it's like getting angry at Sears because they got a better version of a cordless drill you bought at Lowe's last year.

This is exactly what I've been doing for a long time now. I hardly ever buy anything on steam anymore. I am patient and I demand a DRM-free copy, plus the backlog of games I own but haven't played is tremendous.
