UGE - Universal Game Editor
This is a 1990s game editor that allows hex-editing of most save game files, but not all.
It works in decimal numbering, handy when hexadecimal is not your forte.
You create Module, mdl, files that name and list the possible alterations. (Alternately, you may find the mdl files on the internet.)
Lst files are text files that give names and definitions for each variable in a given mdl file.
(It is abandonware...)

UGE won't run natively on Windows 10, but DosBox will run UGE normally.

(Create a folder called OldGames and put the UGE folder there. I assume the use of UGE10 for the UGE folder name.)
If you exited out of UGE, DosBox is still running and you want to restart UGE, just type UGE and hit Enter.

Snag from much older versions of Windows, when looking through folders for save games, "Ravenl~1" is Ravenloft 2 and vice versa...

For an understanding of UGE, see the "UGE - FRUA Hacking" topic:
http://ua.reonis.com/index.php?topic=2404.0

For a copy of UGE, see:
http://frua.rosedragon.org/pc/misc/uge10.zip
For the Ravenloft 1 and Ravenloft 2 modules, see:
http://avatar.home.xs4all.nl/crap/RL1RL2MENZO_UGE.rar
(This also has the Menzoberranzan module too.)

UGE is generally useful for any game that does not have its own editor...

UGE was/is an awesome tool. I remember making a PPC machine gun in Mechwarrior 2. Unfortunately I forgot to turn off the heat for the PPC and ended up overheating and exploding after a few seconds. Good learning tool for Hex Editing.
UGE has flaws, but it is still servicable. It will work for any game where the save game files have been decrypted, at least partially.

A dedicated Editor is one meant for one specific game or related group of games. This is always better than UGE, if it exists. Many games have no such editor,as far as I know.
UGE says a variable is a class, dedicated editor tells you what class it is.

I have uploaded a collection of modules:
https://www.freewebs.com/ishadnha/UGE10.zip
The Ravenloft ones have been amended to show current party coordinates.
speaking of editing, maybe you guys would know about this, how could I edit or remove the game's cutscenes entirely? the movies on Stone Prophet alone takes up 310MB of disk space, and I don't have that much space to spare on an old Pentium rig that I use for playing these old games. Would the game even run if I removed the "CINE" folder? If not, how could I edit those files to turn the cutscenes into 1 second "blank" movie file? Can this be achieved by hex editing alone?
Is this the original 1990s version of Stone Prophet, that you are playing?
I have the new Gog version of both Ravenloft games.

Readme.txt recommends that you press the Escape key.

"Would the game even run if I removed the "CINE" folder?"
There is only one way to find out the answer to this...

"If not, how could I edit those files to turn the cutscenes into 1 second "blank" movie file?"
I found the dfa file format specifications at
https://wiki.multimedia.cx/index.php/DFA

I will need to look through the dfa specifications and see how it works...

I came across David Melanson's UGE modules for these games elsewhere, and I noticed the one for Stone Prophet seems to have a small error: Adding the cleric spell that is labeled "Detect Magic" in UGE actually gives Detect Evil spell instead. Oddly, Detect Evil is not listed in the manual even though I can memorize it normally in the game. But getting back to UGE, the spell labeled "Detect Pits" in provides Detect Magic.

edit: I noticed an interesting quirk. I edited Angh Grak one level higher, and gave him appropriate amount of experience for that. Now in my game he is gaining experience and levels normally. The "experience until next level" slot still displays blank, but that doesn't seem to actually affect anything.

more edit: Upon further playing, I think Angh Grak leveling up has somehow broken his health regeneration.

GOG didn't send me email reply notification, sorry for the delay...
Do I have to mark each thread I want to "subscribe" individually? Isn't it automatic like other forums?

Anyway, thanks, I will look into that.
Hi guys, for those who played Stonekeep before i create a fun fact topic:

www.gog.com/forum/stonekeep/secrets_of_stonekeep_specialist_required_to_do_reverse_engineering

*But most important and what is related with this UGE page is that, if someone here have awesome programer skill or at least skill enough related to CODE, Cheat Engine, etc... to help me I apreciate.

If you are boring please read my post, thanks!
