Does anyone else have a problem with going into the area with the Ssurrans where you need to buy the statue piece and getting an unreasonably high monster spawn rate? I'm talking less than a minute after you beat one group, another appears close to you.

That's by design, they warn you about that area. The halfling you run into tells you as much.

Best way out after obtaining the piece is teleportation with Llod's Rod.
