The default install for SL doesn't have the sound configured correctly for me on Windows 10. There's a "Launch Settings" shortcut in the game folder for Windows (might be there for other platforms), run that and choose the following through the dialog:

I will => No => SoundBlaster Pro ASP 16 => Yes => Yes => OK

The result is the original instrumentation (what it sounded like on an average DOS machine). The bass will be more pronounced, and the percussion/synth effects will generally sound more cohesive with the rest of the band.

Thanks for the tip as I generally don't like MIDI with few exceptions.
Thanks a lot for this! I knew it sounded pretty gimped on my first playthrough. Wonder if I should do this for my other GOG games...
