A lot of people here complain about Wake of the Ravager playing poorly. What I would like to know is: is it running worse nowadays on modern systems or is it simply showing the problems it always did? The game was certainly considerably buggy from the beginning and was never really fixed. Still, I remember rather liking the game anyway and just want to know if there are any additional problems today that weren't there when it was patched for the last time.
Speaking for myself, I didn't run into any game-breaking bugs (even the one in the Iron Mines where the mind-flayer controlled miners fail to show up and the quest thus can't progress), but having played Shattered Lands as a kid, but not WotR, and then coming back years later to WotR, WotR feels like a downgrade in almost every aspect. Animations look hilariously janky, magic items lose their charges and disappear completely, etc. They feel like problems that were hard-baked into the design though, not a problem of GoG/Dosbox.
It's been a long time, so my memories of Wake of the Ravager may be overly nostalgic and/or may involve bugs I simply never encountered because of how I play. I think I do recall the game being at least somewhat buggy, though.

Actually, the bug that most stands out in my memory is an exploit that can make the game too easy. As a rule, I never use exploits, but I recall this being a rare exception, where one part of the game was so hard for me that I had to make a single use of it to get through.
