I loved Darksun when I was a teenager. Played and won it. Yeah it had bugs, but it also had exploits that I took advantage of, so I don't really care if GoG did anything or not with it.

But Darksun 2 was a very different story. I remember game breaking bugs in the main quest making this game completely unwinnable. It's been way too long to remember when or where in the game but I do remember not being able to progress (something about entering the huge temple to the north maybe?)

I would love to pick up the entire D&D pack that is on sale right now but mainly for the Darksun series (The rest is frosting) but I won't if the game is unwinnable. So please tell me this game is winnable. I'll save like it's a Sierra game if I have to, but can this game be beaten?

I beat the game, but did run into a gamebreaking bug in the mirror behind the tapestry in the veiled alliance headquarters. There was some sort of bug and I couldn't complete one of the actions to solve that puzzle, so I had to reload and it worked fine the second time around.

The moral of the story is save early, save often :)

I do remember finding that Darksun: Shattered Lands was much, much better than Darksun 2: Wake of the Ravager. It seemed unpolished by comparison - not that DS1 was polished by any means, but I just remember the quality of the second game felt as though it was very rushed.

I played and completed both Darksun games, though I did encounter a gamebreaking bug near the end (probably the huge temple you mention). If you enter the lower level while having too many items on you (and I do mean too many), certain objects (including alcoves and chests) would not appear, thus you wouldn't be able to get items you needed to continue. Loading an earlier save and dropping a ton of arrows helped circumvent said bug, thus I was able to finish the game without further issues.
There were also a few speed related issues, mainly when you need to follow someone from point A to point B. Since the pause is finicky, you may need to pre-plan your walk patter to be able to keep up with them and not have them say you are too far away and reset the walk.
Lots of breaking bugs, but still fun. Save a lot and never delete/overwrite.
