In the Steam version (maybe and in GOG i dont know), it is possible to install the Legends of Aranna addon, but the question is, is it worth it? I remember when it came out (100 years ago) aranna was much easier in terms of difficulty on hard, on which I now play the original. And indeed now, having not played this game for many years, one gets the feeling that vanilla has become even more difficult than it was in 2002. If you install an addon, will the difficulty in the original company increase, or will it still become quite easy as before? And in general, the question about the gameplay is what is better to play?

Depends on what you want. Legends of Aranna changed some key things about how damage vs armor works which did retroactively impact the original campaign that was not balanced around this change. The guide to install LOA includes this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/dungeonsiege1/mods/90?tab=description , which attempts to adjust the original campaign so that it is the same as before LOA, but it is definitely not a 100% recreation.

Personally, I'd play through the original campaign and only then install and proceed to Legends of Aranna. DS 1 without LOA on Hard IS hard.
