TheJoe: Gog is selling it so that 3D Realms can spend another ten years making Duke Nukem Forever.

Weclock: Odd then that you can't spell Professional, or Developer for that matter. And even odder that you don't actually know (what with working Prroffesssionaly in the industry) that abandonware has no legal foundry whatsoever.
In short, you're full of crap :D.
Have a nice day.

Heh, classic!
When download sites for old games started popping up around 10 years ago or so, a term was made up to easily recognize what the website would contain. Really old games that isn't sold in stores anymore. Legal abandonware is not a correct term, 'cause if a company agrees on the game being freely distributed on the internet, then the game has become freeware.
So the abandonware term doesn't exist for anything other than to easily describe what the website dabbles in.
Ok, so, let's forget about the 'abandonware' term..
I thought Duke had become freeware.. but that's obviously not the case...
I think I'm about to buy this one too ! .. rhaa.. so much great games, so little time... ;)

Duke Nukem 3D worth paying for... (and 6$ is affordable imo)
With GoG, I can download and play DN3D everywhere, without using an abandonware website or torrent (...virus with the last one ?), I paid the devs, and I can legally play the game.
+ As I'm not in US (Europe), it seems not so easy to get a Duke Nukem 3D copy here.
Anyway, calm down people :)
if you want to debate on "abandonware, legal or not ?", use abandonware website's forum first.
ps : funny to see french dev from ubi here, I thought it was an extinct specie :D
(nb : I haz bin français)

ZeGlobox: Ok, first of all, sorry for the bad spelling.. I’m French.. and in French, we say “développeur professionnel” hence the spelling mistakes (that I often make, I admit..)
Second, if you really want to know : I work at Ubisoft, as a graphics / 3d engine programmer , worked on many games, here are a few of them : Rayman 2 N64 / Dreamcast, Splinter Cell PS2, Prince of Persia : Sands of time PS2 / Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 1 & 2 on Xbox 360.
And if anyone doubts that, just post an email address, I’ll reply using my work-email. you'll get my name, and be able to google it.

I don't think anybody here cares if you're a professional developer or not...

I just didn't appreciate being called "cheeky little pirate" and "full of crap" that's it... other than that, I don't care much either ;)
Anyway, let's stop with this discussion I should never have started in the first place, and let's play ;)
