I've tried reinstalling it multiple times, while running the setup.exe as admin. I even redownloaded the installer to make sure that the one I used wasn't corrupted in some way.
I looked at other threads and tried to set the shortcut up to run under WinXP SP3 compatibility with administrator rights as they said to do, but when I check the "run as admin" box and click "accept" the properties window crashes, so the setting won't stick. Speaking of the Duke Nukem 3D properties window, it takes about a minute for it to come up, whereas the properties window for any other game I try comes up in a few seconds. What's with that?
When I try to actually play the game (by clicking either the desktop shortcut or via the start menu), there's a whole lot of nothing. The screen doesn't really change, only the taskbar rearranges itself a little and if there's a window open it might flicker, but that's it. DOSbox doesn't ever start. Looking on task manager, gogwrap.exe comes up as a process, but after a few minutes nothing happens except for my computer becoming much slower. After killing that process with task manager, the computer goes back to normal after a few more minutes.
For whatever reason, it just won't work, and I think it has something to do with that gogwrap.exe. What does it do?
I'd like to run DN3D with DOSbox instead of EDuke, but I suppose if I absolutely must I'll go for that. My system is Windows 7 home premium 64-bit, 6 gig ram, and AMD phenom quad-core 2 GHz. I'd really appreciate some help with this. Thanks!
