There ware great russian version by 1C company long time ago. Is it possible to patch GOG version with old translation?

Take a look to the first post about spanish translation. If the series of archives in the russian version are the same the steps to translate it should be the same.

Well, what's the point of throwing all these crutches to install another language? Can't you build it right away or download it with a separate installer?

The point is to install a translation based in your previous installed copy without downloadin anytthing. But If you want to find an installer or external translation on the web, do it freely.
