How do I set the controls on the new Doom I and II release so I can turn with the keyboard buttons like in normal Doom? I refuse to play Doom with a mouse.

i believe you can't, but still doom never was keyboard only, there was an option to play with the mouse ever since version 1.0, even the demos were recorded with it, but novert ruined mouse controls...

Oh great. I hate using Mouse controls in shooters. That's why I mainly modern shooters on consoles or use a Gamepad (Mine is busted ATM.). I know most people prefer Mouse and Keyboard controls but I see no legitimate for those of us who prefer the Keyboard controls in Doom I and II to not be allowed to use them.

I played Doom II as a teen 30 years ago and have since revisited it as one of the few first person shooters I've played every couple of years for 30 minutes or so: on some old laptop, then in a DOSbox, then gzdoom and every time I was facinated the way my cerebellum was able to control my fingers just like it was 1995. Until now. Not because I've suddenly gotten so much older and less agile (that will come, sure, but not yet) but because I can't set the game to turn using the left and right arrow keys and strafe by holding down alt. Why? Why why why? I'm too old (and stubborn) to reprogram my brain.
i hope the new update answered your question, though i hope they added the old mouse controls (i am that much of a purist), add in automap markers and double strafe acting as use and it'll be perfect

Where did you saw such functionality, I wonder? I've been playing DOOM since year 1995 too and do not really remember strafe acting this way even in source-ports.
