Are there any differences? On Steam it lists you can play the "original" Doom 3, but it doesn't mention it here and the GOG version discusses no online multiplayer but I read reviews that contradict that?

It might be still possible to use multiplayer in the GOG release of BFG Edition as one of the reviews mentioned but I could never tested it out personally and enabling the multiplayer connection features from what I recall causes the game to crash when trying to unlock certain achievements. Other than that, the Steam release of BFG Edition was became DRM-free last month and patched DPI scaling issues with High DPI scaling mods for very high resolution displays.
