So I've been playing Doom 3 BFG on Veteran. I got to Hell, and this boss is really trying my patience. The problem is, I can't tell if I'm doing any damage to him. The window to hit his weak spot is 5 seconds, and I generally can hit him a few times during that, but I'm never sure if I'm getting the weak spot or not.

Really wish there was an old-fashioned health bar, so that i could at least know if I'm doing any damage or not.

Anyone who beat him, how many times do you need to hit him, usually?
You can take it down with 2-3 fully charged shots from the BFG. If you managed to make it to that fight with a surplus of chaingun ammo, then dump that into it - though I couldn't give you an exact amount on what would finish it off.

So long as you have the Seekers downed and the orb is exposed and you're certain that you are hitting it, you should be good.

The good thing is, it keeps the same amount of health no matter what difficulty you play on. I think the only time it changes is in the Lost Mission fight against it but that differs significantly from the main game since you don't have to deal with the Seekers or focusing on a weak spot when you reach that point.

Thanks, that did it!

Not getting the achievement for some reason, but at least I can move on now.
C:\Users\YOURNAME\Saved Games\id Software\DOOM 3 BFG\base\savegame -> delete the file profile.bin

delete the profile.bin only, remember, the BFG dont save in the cloud your progress.

this is an old tip that I saw on Steam, the problem is not related to GOG, is something with the BFG structure.

and as far Zenimax/Bethesda goes, it will never be fixed.
