Hi all,

I've heard some really good things about this game and the newly released sequel, and I'm tempted to get at least the first game. But one thing that really irks me is bugs in games, especially bad ones. So with that in mind, how buggy is the first game (Original Sin I mean)? Would a thorough play-through lead to blatant bugs, crashes or the like? What has been your experience with the game?

Thanks!

I love the game so much I've played through at least 10 times. Though I'm playing the same areas, the loot in chests is random so you get different things, the different ways to create your characters and later your party is fun as you will have to strategize fights differently, and the different skills you choose add great variety.

Bugs? None. The game came out in 2014, any that were have long been fixed.

You will likely start a game, then while shortly into it and start to understand the fundamentals and usefulness of different character builds, restart the game with better starting characters in mind. It's not a bad thing. Just saying because I did it myself many times once I understood the strengths of certain classes.

Crafting can be tedious but it's worth it imo, especially if you have an archer or a grenade user.

There are many good mods on the Nexus for it, the best being "Epic Encounters" imo. And there is a version you can get with the great changes it makes (back-stabbing rogues become very badass) without increasing the difficulty - also there is a 6 character party version (only if you use the keyboard - can only have the standard 4 character party with a gamepad due to the different interface ...... but there is still a great thing you can do if you get it and stay with 4 characters ... you'll figure it out after playing and learning the game a bit ;)

I would advise to play the game without mods first though, except maybe a faster move speed or something similar that doesn't change things as much as epic encounters does.

If you like turn-based rpg's with amazing strategic ways of beating encounters, this is the best.

The only game I like better in terms of turn-based battle is DnD's "Temple of Elemental Evil", but it is very short and greatly lacks story - unlike D:OS EE.

Wow, that's great to hear! Thanks for the response. I will be sure to check it out without mods first. What's your opinion on the sequel also? I know it's recently released, but how does it compare? Is it buggy or is it a stable release?

(Sorry for assuming you have the sequel and have played already).
Well, it's a bit buggy now (I haven't got the patch released today yet), but I never had the bug issues others had that were fixed in the notes except for the quest log entries bug, where finished quests don't go away.

I haven't made it too far yet, but from what I've played and what I've read others further in say, it is even better.

D:OS1 will let you learn a lot of the same types of things in 2, but there are definitely new things in 2 that require a lot of thought as far as how to optimize your team. I'm having a lot of fun with it.
With the frequent patches, Original Sin 2 doesn't sound too bad bug wise. I think I'll take the plunge and play it first since I read that the stories aren't related. If I'm itching for more, I'll play the first game after. Thanks so much for the info.

squareinc: Hi all,

What has been your experience with the game?
I'm playing it currently. w7 x64 gtx960 nividia pilots 385.69.

I met 2-3 things :
- the cloud saving in Gog Galaxy is really too long (ie 4 to 15 min) - It might be a galaxy purpose, but I do not have such latency with other Galaxy games...
- Multiple alt-tab sequence tends to freeze the game after some ping-pong. The 3-4 first are ok but finally, it freeze and you have to kill the process manually.
- The permutation full screen to windowed/emluated full screen in graphics option crash brutaly the game (already 4 times for me).

Hi thanks for responding. I bought Original Sin 2 and have put in over 100 hours into it. I have found some minor bugs here and there, but haven't experienced any of the ones you mentioned. I have gtx 760 with windows 10. It plays on ultra with 40 to 60 fps. I use Galaxy and it takes less than a minute to save and sync cloud saves. I press the windows key often during play to read the wiki and haven't had any freezes. I play on regular full screen so I'm not sure how the emulated full screen works.

I'm sorry that you've had these issues. I guess I'm just lucky. I'm really glad I bought the game. This and Breath of the Wild have been my favorite gaming experiences this year. I hope Larian continues to patch and optimize the game.

squareinc: Hi thanks for responding. I bought Original Sin 2 and
I was speaking about Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition, subject of this thread not the Original Sin 2.
and to respond to your questio :"how buggy is the first game (Original Sin I mean)?"

If you are happy, I'm happy ^^ but yes the 1st game is stilll quite buggy despite his age.
