I picked up the meteor strike spell book in Glenborus and tried to read it but nothing happens. I clicked on it once in my inventory, nothing. I double-clicked in my inventory, nothing. I tried right clicking on the book and it merely closed the window leaving the spell book in inventory. I tried drag and drop to my character icon on the main map and the book just falls to the ground. I tried to drag and drop on the UI menu at the bottom of the screen and the book just goes to inventory. Anybody got any idea what's wrong and what to do about it?

You have to be at a high enough level for the spell. Hold the mouse pointer over the book and look for the required level note. If you are not at or above the minimum level, you can't get the skill regardless of your intelligence.
You may need to raise your intelligence level if you are at the minimum level but still can't read the book. Raise it when you level up or with an added charm or magical item which raises intelligence. If you are not "smart" enough, you can't read or comprehend some books.

Thanks. I had the original game on cd and it would allow you to upgarde the skill even without the requirements for it. The newer patch must have changed that. Again, thanks.

You're welcome, I don't have a link but it is my understanding that the last patch fixed the spellbooks ignoring the level requirement. . . . =)
