Hello everyone,

I got Divine Divinity on this sale and wanted to install it, however then I saw this user created post on Steam.

It says the following:

The problem is: this game gives you so much freedom (or maybe it is just poorly designed) that you can easily break your quests, even the important ones related to the main story. You can make such a mess that the game turns itself unbeatable. I broke a lot of quests because I’ve done things that ruined them. After that, I sought in the web trying to discover why such quests were broken, then I found these must-read-advices:

• Don't enter Commander Ralph's room. He'll kick you out and lock the door breaking a quest. A big one!
• Don't use the key for the Gardens on the Graveyard first. It causes a break by not then working for the Gardens!
• Don't open any one of the four tombs in the holy weapon secret room. It breaks a very hard to complete quest!
• Don't kill the assassin before finding the clues (corpses) at the burning wagon and the secret hideaway there; you'll bust the quest!
• Don't get the Sword from the Stone and then leave the Dark woods, when you return almost every living thing, including the elves will be dead!
• Don't hit the gong before finishing all your open quests, you won't be able to go back after that!

My question is: are these bugs present in GOG version of the game? I love the idea and would like to engage in playing these games before Divinity: Original Sin, however, I don't want to lose my time if I will not be able to finish the game.

Thanks!

Liberteer: It says the following:
Periodic named saves are the best way to protect against bugs, or other issues (testing a new skill choice or trying conversations different ways, etc). There are fixes or workarounds for most issues, as well, if you do happen to run into anything that can not be solved be reloading a recent save.

There are multiple ways to get Ralph out of his room, the easiest of which is to quicksave before trying to loot someone's property when they are standing right there. Most NPCs don't care if you wander around houses as long as they don't see you stealing, but some do object to you entering (generally obvious) back rooms.

There is a second key to the gate, and I think Lockpick level 5 will open it, as well (if not, there are a couple other workarounds).

There is a workaround if you miss the warning about opening one of the tombs there, though it will leave the quest open in your journal. While a nice reward, this quest is optional.

IIRC the assassins don't show up until you've completed the previous steps. This is one quest line which can get partially broken if you do things too much out of the expected order (Marcus-Tingalf-Trevor-Quest); at worst you'd miss a bit of experience, though.

There is a warning, and an inscription on the sword, that not replacing the sword would be a bad thing. There is an additional warning if you walk away from the area, though you don't get that if you teleport.
The ghost does not kill any essential NPCs in the Dark Forest, even if you do keep the sword.

There is a warning about hitting the gong. Also, it is obviously a significant advance of the main plot, so near the end of the game a one way trip to a new location shouldn't be entirely unexpected.

True Shot and the damage portion of Crossbow Expertise are broken (don't work). Spear Expertise is also broken; a thrown spear does X damage, rather than X% of the base damage (X is 60 to 100 depending on the level), so is very over powered.
Frost on a melee weapon is also over powered, since it ignores the target's resistances.

There is a moderately rare bug where certain NPCs can be hostile who are suppose to be friendly. There are a couple fixes for this, the easiest of which would be the program Jem created and posted in the Steam discussion Imp Council Member.

The following is outdated, and fairly spoiler-ish:
QUESTBREAKERS AND MAKING DIV LIFE DIFFICULT
Raze, I guess you're part of the team... thank you very much for all this info!
