Since Larian is working on a patch, thought I would start a post on possible patch enhancements. After completing the game my one request would be to enable charm replacement/upgrades in all items. As it stands now, once inserted . . . they can't be changed. (Probably good reasons for it)
In the Rivertown sewers, I found the Singing Blade and never found a better weapon thru the rest of the game. It had one charm slot which I filled with the best charm I had at the time. Same thing with other items such as the Belt of the Dragon (4), Silver Breast Plate (3), Ruby Ring (4) etc, etc. It would be nice to upgrade charms for your weapons and armor as you progress.
Maybe replace any charm of a certain level with any other charm of that same level or with a Silver or Gold charm as you acquired them. I know fixing the bugs are your top priority but it would be a nice enhancement to add.. . =^ )
Edit: Sorry DeathKnight, I couldn't resist . . . =^ (

Can't see them making such changes now, but you never know. I was disappointed with the weapons. I used the Slasher axe for much of the game, then found the same sword you did which is probably as powerful as I'll ever need. It was the first weapon where I saved and reloaded until I got some stats that appealed to me. I don't like how the few powerful items you find in the game can spawn really weak, but with another reload be much better. In the end I settled for 5 charms, some extra damage and a Stun level 4 bonus to the weapon. My character is about level 32 and just attempting the Council of Seven tests. A shame to hear I'll probably not need another weapon for the rest of the game. That said I can easily kill most critters in a couple of hits and every level I gain I become more powerful.
However, now that you mention it, I do wish you could replace the charms. I've only used about 6 charms throughout the game, despite carrying about 20, just on the off-chance I find a better piece of equipment to use the same charms on. For me the entire charm process and random equipment stats doesn't make for a good game mechanic, although it could have been great. Early on it is fine, but generally I'm finding I don't need much bonuses later on. I much prefer the fixed stats of a game like Baldurs Gate where you gradually find better and better weapons and feel a hint of remorse that your beloved +3 Battle Axe no longer cuts the mustard. The random stats thing would work better if the entire game consisted of randomised critters and levels. Oh well.

Collie: I was disappointed with the weapons.

I found it refreshing to not be focused on a desperate search for the next great weapon or armor. I am much like you concerning Baldurs Gate but it seems that DD is the first RPG, in a long while, that has me more involved with the story and atmosphere rather gold and equipment . . . much like Fallout did. Diablo: LOD pushed me away from RPG's (I played it way too much), Sacred brought me back and DD has been a pleasure to play.
I found all of my "best" equipment, breastplate at 410, gloves at 350, boots at 430 etc. etc. My only need was to upgrade the charms on that 410 brestplate from the weak charms I inserted initially.
I enjoyed DD more than any RPG I've played in recent years, missed it the first time around, looking forward to a play through with no bugs. . . .=^ )
I also agree that being able to swap out charms would be a great upgrade. I have tonnes sitting in my inventory and none in any of my weapons/armor because I don't want to put one in and then find a better one later...

OldGameLuver: I have tonnes sitting in my inventory.

Once I found nothing but silver and gold I sold the rest.
I was considering, next game, duping any good armor and weapons with original uncharmed in a chest, insert charms in the dupe, when I get better charms, dupe again, insert charms, etc etc . . . probably just play thru without any dupes once the patch is released.
I'm afraid we won't have time for "enhancements", only bugs that were reported :)

I understand, as it should be, just indulging in some wishful thinking . . . =^ )
