I started the "Lost Archaeologist" quest and escorted Wulfram to the city. I forgot that I had Madora leading and she spoke to Wulfram. He got uppity and insiste one of the main characters speak to him. No problem, only now he won't speak to anyone. Rather than start again at an earlier save, I moved on and thought he might reset. But he does not and by the time I remembered he was standing outside the city in the rain, I was too far ahead to bother restarting for a little side quest.

Just wondering if there is any work around or whether this is a quest killing bug.

I looked on line and can't see a solution so I am guessing there is none. Just throwing it out there.

Also, as a warning to others doing this quest, make sure that your leads speak to Wulfram. I know others have had the same issue.

Cymbeline: only now he won't speak to anyone.
Did you try talking to him with a weapon drawn, to see if that would trigger a 'watch where you are pointing that thing' type of response? What about an area effect spell used near him?

Try having one lone character attack him, or get caught pickpocketing (and flee the resulting combat), and then have a main character try talking to him.

If that doesn't help, please email supportdos@larian.com, with a description of the problem and the report.zip file generated by the D:OS support tool (for the PC version). The report will contain system and game information, as well as your saved games. To reduce the file size, you can delete all but your most recent save from the zip (maybe leave the last save before escorting Wolfram back, if available).

There is a decent amount of experience for this quest for the start of the game, but Wolfram isn't required for anything else.

I did try drawing my weapon. I even tried fighting, running away, coming back and giving him gold. He we go through all of the ususal dialogue for those actions, but then falls silent again.

I think I will just skip it as I am onto the second area now. I should have replayed from the previous save right away. Thanks for the ideas though.

I could be misremembering, but IIRC you simply *follow* Wulfram back to the gate (protecting him from being killed along the way), whereupon Wulfram does the initial talking and thanks the party and says he'll meet you in the Inn at the bar if you need him. He should enter the town through the gate under his own steam and then make his declaration--I don't recall anyone having to speak with him in order to trigger the quest to finalize with his "thank you" speech. (But, maybe I've simply forgotten it.)
Waltc: I wish that were true. He ran to the gate and waited. He might have initiated a conversation if I had not clicked on him with Madora first. Believe me, if you do that he will idle at the gate forever. The only fix appears to be to go to a previous save, which I did not do. Hard lesson learned, unless someone finds a fix. Luckily, not game breaking.
