Im at Level 4 now and when I leveled up I added 5 bonus points to Strength then saved. When I loaded my strength was 15 again ( five points less) even tough It shoes Im level 4. It happened before, am Im doing something wrong or is it another bug?
Do you still have spendable points in your statistics menu? If so, the problem is that you forgot to hit the confirmation button after boosting your stats. If not, then yes, you've got a bug.
No There are no points left. Thats great Im level 4 with Level 1 stats. Man this game could be great if it would not have all these crippling bugs. I mean seriously it is getting as bad as Daggerfall. This is one of those games where you see how important beta testing is. I was looking forward to this, when the project was called LMK. Oh well lets look for a patch.

If you are using Vista / Win 7, did you install by right clicking the setup.exe and clicking "Run as an administrator'? If not, you may want to backup your saves and reinstall as Vista / Win 7 tend to block some disk writes which may result in the game not being fully installed.
If you did install as an admin, you need to right click the shortcut, click Properties on the resulting dialog, click the Compatibility tab and check mark "Run this program as an administrator"
If you are running XP ignore the above . . .=)
Ive restarted the game and everything is fine now. I changed my mind about it. Its great and addicting as hell. I pretty much wasted my whole weekend on it. And I am probably not even halfway through! Its Diablo with a deep Story, which is great. The little stupid things about it are not that bad as long as it runs . Thanks for the help btw!
Great ! I know that must have been frustrating. It is a great game, I will be playing it for years to come.
On the initial release, there were some who were getting corrupted saves using the quick save. Never had that to happen but I got use to using the "S" key to save and never had a problem with saves doing that. Enjoy . . .=)
I had something similar happen, but then I realized that I had also removed an item which had given me a STR bonus. I know it's silly, but just make sure that your attribute wasn't artificially higher if something like that happens again.

Prator is right. I had this problem also. I thought it was a bug at first. Open the levelling up screen and drag it up the screen, assign your points, and then click the tick and the points should stay that way.
Its just I needed time to get over my noob-faze. And I did. :)
I just came across this problem but,,, I'm now a level 5 warrior with 20 points on strength and 10 points on everything else. Does that add up correctly, or have I permanently lost points? (due to leveling without having had properly spent my points first)

You start with 15 strength, so if you put everything into that (leaving the rest at 10), you should have 35 strength.

You can use iZakaroN's SaveEditor to give yourself any lost stat points.

In general, if you wait long enough for any food/potion/spell effects to wear off and remove all equipment with stat bonuses (or make sure to take them into account), then

strength + agility + intelligence + constitution + any unassigned stat points = 40 + 5*(Character Level) + some other bonuses you will probably not have encountered at level 5 (in the far east or north of the first map, and Verdistis).

Wow, I can't believe I've been progressing through the game with such a stunted character!

thanks for the link Raze_Larian

the dumb thing is that one of the loading screen hints is something along the lines of "you don't have to spend all of your stat points right away, why not save them for later". Why not indeed.
