Hello,

I have backed Divinity Original Sin during its Kickstarter campaign and recently I have been issued a game key which I have activated here on GOG. The game is in my games library.

However I cannot download it. I start the download, it downloads normally until 4.4 GB of the 8.5 GB have been downloaded, afterwards the bar jumps to 100% telling me that the game has been succesfully downloaded. Naturally this isn't the case since the downloaded files only have 4.4 GB. When I try to run the installation file it obviously tells me that the file is incomplete. And obviously if I try to install it the installer crashes.

I have tried to download the game multiple times, both the english and the german installer, and on different computers. One of them is running Win 7 64 bit, the other Win 7 Starter on a netbook, and the other one Windows XP on an older computer. And I run into the same problem. every. single. time. It refuses to download more than 4.4 GB.

What am I doing wrong?

PS: I have uninstalled and reinstalled the GOG downloader, but to no avail. What is the solution? What other program can I use to download your game??

I don't want to be in a situation where I have to resort to piracy for a game that I legally purchased.

Thanks in the advance.

I've got this problem, there's a thread about it too. They will fix it of course, but ine the meantime, you can just turn off the gog downloader by cliking on the "ON" button just above the game files. Now gog will show links to individual downloads (one for each part, and the patch). You can get your files 'as usual' this way. In your case, you could just download the missing file (probably part 3), put it in the same folder as the other two, and everything should be fine!

Thanks, I did this as well but only after I've made this post. :P

Part 2 is downloading now. Slowly.

Anyway thanks for your help. This should do it.

I'll update this post once everything is done.

EDIT: yep, everything is working fine now! thanks again.

The root cause is not yet fixed by GOG.

I downloaded the first installer and patch which were broken, the patch could not be applied. The new patch was not able to get applied either with the old installer. Now I downloaded the new installer, but it only downloaded 4 of 8 GB automatically and think it's complete. Great.

I really expected the download to be finished over night. I have a very slow internet connection, if I had only known how broken this game is on GOG I would have chosen the Steam version for my copy.

Have you tried downloading the game without the GOG Downloader like Darucas mentioned? Anyway I sent a message to support before making this thread. I received an email this morning telling me that the problem has been fixed (allegedly).

I did, but this is what happened:
* started manual download of the missing part via Firefox
* tried to pause and resume the download in Firefox - worked, very good
* my bandwidth is rather low and it was not even saturated, estimated finish for the 4 GB was in 7-8 hours
* after half way in I had to do some online banking stuff. As I don't use my gaming Windows installation for this, I needed a reboot.
* After rebooting into windows and starting Firefox, guess where the download resumed? Exactly, it ignored what was downloaded already and started anew.

Maybe I could have used a third party download tool and the resume would have worked (the server seems capable), but really, I don't want to waste time with such issue at all.

My ticket to support was only answered with a standard "reinstall the downloader and if that doesn't help verify/reinstall the .NET framework" text. Anyway seems to be fixed now.
