MyName: Just to add my two cents, the game runs fairly well for me under Vista, but crashes completely if I use any animal statuette, and most recently, if I try to fight Demona -- unfortunate since it's a main quest event. Anyone else had these issues? Any hope of a patch?

I've never tried using the statues before until you mentioned your issue with them so I tested it in my game and it crashes every time I click on my cat statue (it's the only statue I have at the moment).
Have played my fighter up to lvl 17 now. The game has an occasional crash, but not to annoying.
Running on Win7, 32bit.
After reading the forum, I tried to reconstruct the bugs reported, and I have managed the three mentioned allready in this post.
- The Cursed Abbey. CTD after watching a short cutscene with spinning characters.
- Using the spider/frog-statue immediately crashes the game to desktop.
- The knight in NE corner of the map. CTD after short cutscene, and the trolls are dead.
Avoiding these areas, and still enjoying the rest of the game until a patch is released.
A few more that I've found so far:
Fighting Demona -- if she casts a healing spell, the game crashed every time (the solution was to cast endless meteor strikes until she died, luckily my health just barely held out without stopping for potions)
The garden with bees and wasps (I've forgotten the name) -- I took the side of the bees and fought the first battle, saved and unfortunately the game crashed every time just after that point. I had to start over.
The Warriors Guild -- after accepting the first quest, I was unable to pick up objects or use stairways. Since the quest requires using a stairway, that was a game killer too.
I'm running Vista, after the first crashes I did a clean install making sure to run both the installer and the game itself as Admin. I've tried different resolutions, disabling my AV and firewall, no luck though. I really like this game, but at this point it looks like it's just unplayable. Would love to hear if somebody discovers a way to make it work though.
Hi MyName,
I'm a developer at Larian Studios, and we are currently looking into all the issues reported on the forums. Right now I'm working on the three problems you've mentioned.
However, I need your help for the first two, namely the fight with Demona, and the bee-wasp-garden (which, by the way, is called 'Arakand' ;) ).
Could you please send your latest save games - just before these points of crashes - to info at larian dot com (ask to forward to Wim)?
I couldn't reproduce the problems myself. Because I already fixed a number of issues, your problems might already be solved with the next update, but I'd like to be sure by trying your specific save games first.
Thanks for the help!

Thanks Sektor for looking into things! It's a great game, and it's great you guys care about it.
Strange how I was reading how everyone had problems with the statues but I never did. Until now. Every attempt to use them now crashes the game. I wonder if something triggered it during gameplay or if even if I started with one it would still crash.
Yea just bought the game yesterday im getting random crashes nothing specific EXCEPT when i try the use the Frog statue thats a sure crash situation for me. Using Win Xp.

onionradish: As reported by others, I'm consistently getting crashes at multiple points:
* Church (after "cutscene")
* NE corner of map (after knight/troll "cutscene" and final troll dies)
For now, I have to avoid triggering those areas. I have had other crashes during "boss" battles, but have managed to get past them by returning at a later point.
Win XP3. Avast is installed but is suspended/disabled. Crashes at those points are consistent regardless of resolution. Given the crash situations, it seems like a logic/scripting issue more than a driver/system issue.

I have the same setup and tried the same thing. I was enjoying the game, I was up level 32 mage, and never had a crash or any other issue till now. Once i enter the dark forest I can not leave, it won't allow me to save, quick save or save in the main menu. After I walk around in the dark forest for a time I lose control over my character and the status/inventory bar disappears. It doesn't crash though because I can still access the main menu via esc and still have the ability to quit or load a game. Game plays fine everywhere as long as I don't go into the dark forest. I tried older saves and it still does this. Anyone know of a fix for this? my DD version was something like V1.0029 and since the problems started i patched it to V1.0034A but didn't fix a thing.

Right click the small red/blue/yellow lines at the bottom of the screen to bring back the status/inventory bar.
Make sure you have the latest video driver installed.
DeathKnight quote : If the "camera doesn't follow my character", check if you can solve this be pressing CapsLock or shift.
The church crashes everyone, not necessary to enter to finish game, it is a minor quest.
Edit: I could not leave the sewers under Rivertown, by any means, the latest driver fixed that for me. Your problem sounds exactly like my sewer problem so a driver update may work for your as well.

Hey Stuff, I tried your suggestions
The red/blue/yellow bars are gone too, I know you can make those disappear and reappear by right clicking but like i said everything is gone from the HUD and my character wont move, its like im in a event scene except there's no event happening. I also have all the latest drivers installed for my video card.

Sorry, I know that it's frustrating. The only other thing I could suggest would be to re-install you video driver. I was stuck very similar to your situation. Saving, reloading, teleporting, going back up the ladder, nothing would allow me to leave the sewers. I installed the newest driver and when I loaded the game . . . all was well, I could leave, save, move etc. The only thing I did was install the driver, maybe the driver gets corrupted???
DeathKnight should be back online Monday, he may have some suggestions.
Edit: I would also suggest you start a new character, if that works, it would seem that your save file may be corrupted. I stopped using quick save since it gave so many error messages about writing to the HD.

You have such a unique crash I would suggest you send DeathKnight at Larian your game save files and your dxdiag.txt file. Should have suggested that you do this first thing, my bad.
Click Start, Run, type in dxdiag. Give it a moment to open and press the "save all information" button. Should save a dxdiag.txt file to the location you choose.
Save files at [ your drive letter ] :\Program Files\GOG.com\Divine Divinity\savegames\[ your character name]. I would zip it up before sending.
Send both to "info at larian dot com and mention DeathKnight in the subject, ask to forward to David"
Edit: Include a description of the crash . . . =^ )
