I finished DD last night. But the final battle was a big disappointment for me. It took hours and hours to reach there(dungeon was pretty huge) but took exactly 5 seconds to kill the final boss. He summoned a monster. I took the monster for me. Then the monster and his summons wasted the Demon of Lies. Wow. His minions was even far more challenging than him. Even a Dead Knight.

I think DD as a great game but the finale was a big letdown. A short cinematic entered immeditely then BAM!Credits... No explanations, no mention of what happened after that, about the fate of the Divine One. What happened to world. My elven wife? Nothing... :(

Note: In some point when his minions kills council, Zandalor say to him that he will be tortured and killed for his actions. The Demon of Lies answers: "Yes, but not by your hand". Dying easily was his plan then?x

Note2: Oh i guess his plan was to sacrifice the baby by our hand. Then the Lord Of Chaos would come to world. But Divine One didn't sacrifice the baby and the Lord Of Chaos vanished and his avatar fell from heavens.

I didn't find the Demon of Lies terribly tough, either, but did use a couple minor restoration potions. I had used 1 minor restoration potion fighting Moriendor (which accounts for all 3 of the potions I used in the wastelands for healing); the other Black Ring bosses were easy, even Josephine.

When I re-loaded the game to check my stats without any equipment, just for the heck of it I cast Heaven's Blessing (for the one and only time in the game) and re-did the fight with the Demon of Lies. It took 106 minor restoration potions and a couple minutes, but I killed him barehanded, with no armour.

Read the BD novella (included in the fansite kit (17.7MB) or there is a summary here) or play BD for details on what happened after DD. There is no mention of an elven significant other for the Divine One, so apparently that didn't work out (what with your character being dead for awhile, etc).

*sigh*
I would have never thought that the language of pure image is so hard to understand. We have to think about that in the future...

MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!

Ascension "Blessing" cutscene
After you got sacrificed by the council of seven your spirit awakes in a divine realms on an altar. Around you the ideas of the seven gods are manifesting. You can roughly separate impish, human, elven or orcish gods...
Everyone of them grabs into their chest and puts a small part of the heart into your weightless shape. After you received all blessing the :div: in you is fully developed and so her wings grow and she flies up to the mortal plane where she descends as the reborn hero into the wastelands.

Extro scene
You see the demon of lies dying. In fact you see the mutiliated body of janus ripped into pieces and the leftover, the sword of lies, remains. It comes closer and tries to seduce the hero. The hero is tempted to take it but refuses and sends it back to hell away from the mortal plane.
Then the hero hears the cries of the baby. Knowing that it is the lord of chaos inside the child he/she draws the dagger to kill it. In the hero's moral struggle to kill a neborn innocent child the scene fades out.
Much later you see the hero walk out victorious into the swamp area. He carries something. Loot? The child? You don't know for sure...
Somewhere on a distant hill Arhu and Zandalor watch you coming when suddenly the statue you lifted up in the sky while entering the katacombs of aleroth comes down finally...(side joke, nothing more)
My character was a survivor using bows and hide skill. I generally kill monsters shooting an arrow and hiding immediately because i have low vitality.

So the boss fights before the final battle was not very fast for me. Hiding, shooting, hiding, shooting....

But when i come to the Demon of Lies he summoned a monster look like himself. Then i immediately casted the "Aura of Command" and just watched. Done nothing. Fight was over before 10 seconds. I guess only 5 sec. :)

I see i will play the Beyond Divinity and read the novella for extra story elements. I hope Larian will make the world bigger and lore greater in the upcoming game. Rivellon is great place to venture.
