I just re-installed Dragon Commander through Galaxy, which I use mostly as a replacement to the GOG Downloader.

When I launched DC through the desktop shortcut, I thought that the most recent patch screwed up the startup time, since it took a long time for the game to appear.

When I quit DC after configuring it, I noticed that Galaxy's main window was opened (I was playing a PS2 game when waiting for DC to start), even though I quit Galaxy after the game was installed.

Did Larian changed the game to require Galaxy to be running, or did GOG screw up the configuration ?

Galaxy is supposed to be an optional client, according to its trailer.

No, but shortly after release Dragon Commander did start using an auto-updater as a test of GOG's pre-Galaxy update function (partly in response to complaints that patches took a day or two to release after a Steam update), so checking for updates could now be starting Galaxy (or maximizing the window if you didn't exit it from the system tray icon).

Change the shortcut to point to DragonCommander.exe rather than DCApp.exe (in the same folder), and it will not check for updates on startup.

While I do not mind (I open Galaxy once in a while to check for updates), some people might mind.

By the way, I didn't expect such a quick answer. It's nice to have a Dragon Knight patrolling the forums.
