I've downloaded the Mac OS X installer, English but the game itself runs in German. Googling I see other people have this issue. The patches don't fix the situation.

Anyone know of how to set the language on OSX? Any chance of the installer itself being fixed?

That is odd. In the Windows version, When I go to the start menu spot for Divinity Original Sin there is option for language settings. This allows you to change the language of the game.

I hope this information helps.

I'm having the same issue. I fixed it by changing the default language in System Preferences to English. But I don't want to do that every time I'm going to play. I don't even have German in that list, just Swedish, Thai and English in that order.

Please stop assuming Swedish people speak German. :)

Thanks jhime - I had British English then English in my language preferences - switching them makes D:OS start up in English properly. So the game assumes if you're Swedish or British you speak German.
I have a similar problem.

I bought and downloaded D:OS for Mac, all the patches and the DLC. I am portuguese, but play in english. I selected the english download.
My language preferences are Portuguese > English > Portuguese (Brasil), and I DO NOT WANT to change them.

My game always starts in german, and I see no way to change the language to english.

What is wrong and how to fix this ?

Thanks

With the Windows version, there is a LanguageSetup.exe program in the 'Divinity - Original Sin' install folder, and a shortcut in the Start menu folder for the game.

In the '..\Divinity - Original Sin\Data\Localizations' folder there is a language.lsx file that you can open in a text editor to switch to English.

The point is that there are no such options or program files in the Mac version to make language changes...

Thanks anyhow for the reply

This has been addressed and stickied:

Divinity: Original Sin Mac version updated

"We have updated the Mac version of Divinity: Original Sin to the latest version and we have fixed the bug with the language selector not working. You should now be able to play in the language of your choosing without any weird errors"
Indeed, version 1.4.0 available today fixes that. Great, thank you!
