Yes; the full installer has already been updated a couple times.

Great, thanks.
Hi!

I have the Mac GoG version of D:OS & recently downloaded a file with the filename: diviity_original_sin_2.1.0.25.dmg. When I run the game, it says version 1.0.81.0 at the opening screen. Is this the latest version or there is a more recent one?

Oh yeah, that's real great, so long as you can afford to download approx 10Gig every time GOG feels inclined to change the installer.
I do not have that luxury!
I hope GOG stops this stupid installer updating and just releases patches. Not every one has unlimited bandwidth.
Just saw a notice that there is a Mac OS X installer 2.1.0 & a Patch 1.0.197 for D:OS's Mac version. Which should I install? Or if both have to be installed, which one first ... the patch or the installer?
Hi guys,

I'd like to know if there is a way to FORCE the gog update upon a D:OS game.

My problem:

I had version 1.0.81, I downloaded the update for 1.0.107 + the hotfix. I executed first the patch and then the hotfix. What happened? Both zipped through and said finished within a second, but when I started the game I STILL had version 1.0.81.

So I tried the patch + hotfix again but it wouldn't let me claiming my game was already up to date. Except it's not. Now I cannot play with my friend anymore, as he has the new version and I apparently cannot update.

I'm now trying to completely reinstall the game (*sigh*) in hopes that that will help. But seriously, is there absolutely nothing I can do when the update quite apparently fails without telling me it does? Is there no way I can flat out FORCE the update to execute again? No way I can repair my game?

I'm grateful for any info on this. I'm quite afraid of this happening again sometime with the next update. :/

Try checking for a patch.log file in the folder you run the updater from - if there were any errors, then they should be reported there.

My guess though, is that you may have multiple installs, or a previous install in a different folder, which the patches picked up on instead of the running version (the patches should report the game folder, it may be worth re-running them and double-checking that they have the right one).

In such a case, doing an uninstall followed by a Windows Registry cleanup (using a tool like CCleaner Slim to "fix" leftover Registry keys) may be the best option.

I would hope that by doing this all should now be good. Though make sure you have the latest GOG installer of the game. If it is an older installer you wont be able to fully patch.
I also had problems with GOG's patching and I had to completely download the whole new version of the GOG installer so I could apply the latest patch.
GOG's treatment of this game and the updating of 8+gig installers has left a real bad taste in my mouth. I wont be buying new release games from them anymore.
They are a good company to get old classic games from, but their ability to apply patches to games that are still actively being patched by the developers is dismal at best.
Thanks for your replies!

So... reinstalling solved it. I didn't re-download however but used the files I had originally downloaded for the game as well as the patch + hotfix. I have no idea what went wrong the first time... :/

As for the patch.log file, I don't think there is one. I've searched the comp and couldn't find any file by that name. And I also haven't had a previous installation either. That was the first time I had ever installed it.

So I'm still wondering what happened and what I can do if it happens again (aside from reinstalling and patching again >_<), but I'm glad it works now at least. ;)
