Hi i just bought the game yesterday and have been trying to get the game to start, as soon as I hit play in Galaxy, it locks the whole computer up and I need to hard reset it. No screen or anything, but it looks like it's trying to load an icon to teh task bar.

so far i''ve tried;
Adding exception to firewall.
Uninstalling and reinstalling/verifying.
Updated drivers.
Deleted/reinstalled all .net progs
running as admin
running in win 7 compatibility mode.

Nothing's working!

Running win 10 home, 64 bit.
Intel i7-4770k
GeForce GTX 980ti, driver 368.39
screen res; 1920 x1080, 120hz

(I seem to be having a lot of issues with crashing and white screens when using Galaxy, unsure if related?)

Alt-F4 or Ctrl-Alt-Del don't help when the game freezes?

When you tried running as administrator, was that with the Galaxy client shut down, and starting the game directly from the '..\Divinity Original Sin Enhanced Edition\Shipping\EoCApp.exe' program file?

Are you shutting down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus) before starting the game? Firewalls have also caused conflicts on startup, though that should be less likely with an exception added for the game. Overlays from graphics tweaking/monitoring programs or chat programs have caused issues.

If you have any old or obscure USB controllers (or other devices) plugged in, try disconnecting them. Crashes on startup with faulting module names of ntdll.dll and EZFRD64.DLL, can (particularly for the latter) be related to USB controllers or PS2 to USB adapters (for various games). I don't think this has been related to freezing, but it's worth checking.

You can try lowering your desktop refresh rate, and see if that makes a difference.

Check for updated graphics drivers and Windows updates in general.

Try manually installing the support packages (from the __redist folder in the game install folder) and reboot.

If you check the Event Viewer, does that give an error code or 'Faulting Module' file name that might help identify the problem? It probably won't, though, since it is freezing and requiring a hard reboot.
- click Start (or WinKey-R), then type "event viewer" into the search box. in Windows 10, 'event' should bring up 'View event logs'.
- after starting the Event Viewer, expand 'Windows Logs' in the left column and select 'Application'
- in the center column, look for a recent error (maybe sort by Date and Time) for the game
- check the information under the 'General' tab below the list of events, starting with "Faulting application name..."

Try browsing to the '..\Documents\Larian Studios' folder and deleting the 'Divinity Original Sin Enhanced Edition' subfolder, if the game is getting far enough in the startup process to create it.
This folder contains the saved games, configuration files and a level cache folder. Normally I would suggest renaming the folder for troubleshooting purposes, but if you don't have any saved games that isn't an issue.
Next, extract the replacement folder from this download into your '..\Documents\Larian Studios' folder (create the Larian Studios folder if necessary), and see if that will let you start the game (it may help if the problem is in setting up the initial My Documents folder and configuration files).

The graphicSettings.lsx file is set to 1280x720 Windowed mode, Very Low quality preset, which you can change in the options (manually, or hit autodetect) if this gets the game to start.
If that doesn't help, you can delete the downloaded My Documents D:OS folder.

THANK YOU!!! I was having the same problem. The game would load up to the "click to begin / press A" and I wouldn't be able to get passed that unless I clicked A on my 360 controller.. The 360 controller would work, but when I went to change to mouse and keyboard, the game would stop responding to my input devices. The only way I could get out of the game was to press the windows button on my keyboard to open the start menu, but the game stayed running in the background and was on top of everything else I had open, but at least I could select a restart with the start menu open.

Replacing the documents folder has solved this whole thing though.. Hopefully this isn't a widespread issue.. Maybe needs to be looked at in a patch??

I'm running:
Windows 10 - x64
Intel i7-4790k
16gb RAM
Nvidia GTX 970

Hey,

Divinity OS Enhanced addition used to work, and work well on my system but it now I can't load any of my saves/character profiles. I've tried disabling cloud save sync, and the option to run the galaxy client in the background but it crashes with the following messages everytime. Its now unplayable.

My specs are Surface Book - I5, 8GB Ram, DGPU (Nvidia), 256GB hard drive. Playing directly from hard drive.

Keeps giving me errors when I try to load any save game, or press continue. Also when I try to create a new profile it just drops to a black screen.

Why am I getting this all the sudden? Granted I hadn't played this game since before they enabled cloud syncing, but it ran like a dream before?!

It seems like a lot of games are having huge issues with this. Grim Dawn is now completely unplayable for me too now...

I've also tried the above steps with no sucess. I've deleted the larian studios folder and downloaded the 'test' folder provided, it allows me to get as far as the initilization screen but then it fails and gives me this error.

HELP!??! This si reallllllyyyy disapointing as I was enjoying my time with this game. I also really dont want to lose my previous progress...

****Update***** had to search the web for how to completely disable bitdenfeder 2018, but after I had disabled it everything worked! I thought I had disabled enough, but apparently I had not until this point! Hope this helps someone else.
