Hi!

I just tried to play the Mac version of Divine Divinity, and at first it seemed to run fine... until I tried to save my game, which turned out to be impossible. On the main menu, the "Save" option could not be selected, and I got the following error message when I clicked on "Load": "error creating savegame directory".

Does anybody have a solution? I use a Mac OS X El Capitan, 10.11 version.

Thanks!

Do you know if DD is suppose to save within the container file, or if it is set up to save elsewhere and maps the savegames folder to where the game expects it (a subfolder of the main install folder)?
Actually, in Finder browse to wherever the game is installed, right click on the Divine Divinity.app file and select Open Container (or something like that) and if there is no 'savegames' folder in the main Divine Divinity folder, try manually creating it.

Are you shutting down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus) before starting the game?
Try shutting down (logging out of) Game Center, as well. A couple people had startup crashes in D:OS after upgrading to El Capitan, due to some conflict with changes in the Game Center.

Did you try contacting GOG support?
Hello, thanks for the reply.

I tried your solutions, but the problem doesn't seem to come from the anti-virus or Game Center. I fear the source might be El Capitan itself.

Concerning the savegames location, there is already a savegames folder in the main Divinity folder (deep inside the application, in the pseudo hard drive) but it's just a dummy file, which is supposed to make the connexion with the real savegames folder. The problem is that this real folder cannot be found. It doesn't seem to exist. I also tried to replace the dummy folder with a real one (which I created), but it was automatically replaced by another dummy one as soon as I restarted the game.

I sent a message to GoG (I should have done it from the start, sorry, but their support form is not the most obvious to find). If they have the answer, I'll let you know, so that it might help other El Capitan users too.
Well, GoG confirmed that El Capitan is not supported yet, so there is no miracle solution, unfortunately: I will have to settle for my PC instead of my Mac.

So, a warning for the Mac users who have not yet upgraded to El Capitan: stay on lower OS X versions if you want to play this game.
