So, the last time I stopped playing the game when I found out there were tons of broken skills (many of which I already invested into) and some other bugs.

What is the current state of the game? I've found on the Steam forums, that only True Sight and Crossbow mastery skills don't work as they should, but the rest is fixed? Is the GOG version on the same patch?

Would like to get back to the game and actually finish it this time.

PS. Slightly off-topic. I also have the Divinity Anthology physical release where the first 3 games are included. Anybody know in what state Divine Divinity is when I install the Anthology version? Does it have all the broken skills and bugs or is it the already patched version?

Thanks.

The only broken skills I know of are True Shot and the damage portion of Crossbow Expertise, and even without them archery in the game is very effective.
Any skill points put into these can be removed with iZakaroN's SaveEditor.

There is a rare issue where traps and summons can become hostile to the player, and a couple of people have had Freeze stop working. There are a couple of overpowered skills, as well (thrown spears, scorpion traps, Frost on a weapon).

The GOG version is the same as on Steam, and the (updated) retail Anthology release. The version number shown in the main menu should be 1.0062A (except for the Russian localisation; unfortunately that was handled by the Russian publisher, who added extra voice acting, and we were not able to add the music fix in 1.0062 to that version of the executable).

Thanks a lot for the info. I played an old disc version many years back. Glad to hear that even the Anthology version has the most recent fixes. Seems safe to actually play through the game now :)

And the save editor might come in handy too.

There were a couple of updates in the last disk version lost when the original GOG version was updated, unnoticed at the time (and unfortunately when the Steam version was to be released, there were several issues with some of the later code backups). Most significantly, in the updated disk version, it is possible to complete Finnigan's quest in Verdistis and buy back his magic lockpicks, and he is a decent merchant for survivor supplies; in the digital version, you can not buy the lockpicks back (so it is better not to complete the quest), and he is not a merchant.

It should be. Periodic named saves are always a good idea, and if you do run into any problems where you can't just reload a recent save, most issues have fixes or workarounds.

Updated disk version, does that mean/include the disk that is in the Anthology? So if I can choose whether to play the digital vs the Anthology version, I should pick the latter to have the quest work correctly?

Again, thanks for all the details. Can't imagine I would have dug them up so easily by myself.

I meant the original retail release. The version on the Anthology disk is the same as the Steam/GOG release.

Hi again. Sorry for bothering you, but I'd like to ask for some further clarification. I've searched through various threads on the internet but still would like to ask these things.

So, the version in digital distribution is different from the one that was on discs back in the day. I have both, digital from GOG and stumbled upon a disc release (full game included on covermount DVD with the LEVEL magazine, NOT Anthology). The disc version is 1.34, the GOG version is 1.0062A.

My main question is, which one I should play when it comes to bugs, broken skills etc. As I have a choice, I'd like to pick the one that has the least bugged things in it.

1) Does the 1.34 disc version have the bugged skills (besides True Shot and Crossbow Mastery)? Does it have any other bugs that are not present in the digital distribution 1.0062 version?

2) Would the quest you mentioned in Verdistis work correctly in the 1.34 disc version?

3) Which version would you as a dev, recommend for the optimal playing experience? 1.34 or 1.0062?

Just got around to starting the game but want to make absolute sure to play the best possible version.

Thanks.
