I've tweaked the video and performance settings across the gamut, but there's something wonky going on when I try to play Divine Divinity. What textures AREN'T completely black have a weird, polarized "rainbow" effect. Has anyone seen this?

Have you check for updated video drivers?

In the configuration program, did you try switching to Software mode, rather than Direct3D?

Divine Divinity - Black screen & rainbow colors?

My video drivers are up to date. Switching to software mode appears to work, until I try to start or load a game, at which point, I crash to desktop.
It looks like I can get playable results by installing the nGlide wrappers and setting the renderer to software.

Did you try switching to Glide? (requires disk version config program; see How to set Glide mode?)

No, just installing nGlide seemed to solve the crash problem. I'll give it a shot to see if maybe it looks better in glide mode.
Ugh. For some reason, now that I'm at the end of the game (naturally), the fix has stopped working. I'm getting the same weird "polarized" coloration again, can't see a blessed thing. I have NGlide installed, but software mode crashes and trying to run OldDDConfig gives me an error popup with no text in it.

Even completely wiping and reinstalling it was no help.

The disk version of the config tool requires the disk version of the NlsEng.dll file. Here is a download link for both.
Rename or otherwise backup the originals before extracting these into the 'Divine Divinity' install folder.

That seemed to work. Thank you
