I'm just starting Divinity 2 Dev Edition; I tried mindread on the tavern keeper, and got a message "nobody will look for gold in the bush by the chapel"... so I went to the chapel, there is only one bush there, but I don't find anything when I walk around in it... is there something I need to do, to 'detect' this gold, or anything else in the game??

Actually, there are a couple. After you cross the bridge as you are facing the door, head to the left, past where the ducks are wandering around. Depending on camera angle, you should be able to see the coin purse without needing to go into the bushes there.
