Hi, this post contains two questions.

I just bought the game and have to say that this is awesome. But the first difficulty I had is which character to choose from the three. I know that the skill system is pretty flexible in that you don't get restricted to having skills for a particular class, but is there a benefit for example in choosing a warrior and then giving him mage skills or a rouge that has mage skills? From the forums that I read on other posts it seems that warrior is the class that gets most increase in attack each level, so just wanted to know if people playing this game noticed that as well.

Another question I had is if there was a patch or unofficial patch or mod that improves the game, but does not change it in any major way.

Thanks in advance.
Other than the starting stats and skills (start a new game or see Locus Inn's Character Description page), the main distinction between classes is the special skill. Secondary stats also depend on the class, so a warrior can certainly use magic, but would not have as large a mana pool as a mage with the same stats.

From the Larian forums (couldn't find the equivalent here in a quick search):

differences between classes (minor spoilers)

Early Starter Tips (NON-Spoiler Version) (contains much of the information in the above topic)

The only unofficial mod or patch I recall is a font enlargement patch.
I'll add this image as it allows you to see the character stats all at once. I always play the warrior just for his special move. You can make him a powerful mage but would suggest using the mage character if you REALLY like playing as a mage. . . =)
