Are you using the proprietary nVidia or AMD drivers? If so, open a support ticket with gog. If not, you're on your own; the system requirements explicitly state that you must use the proprietary drivers. You can also try this thread if you like, which provides a solution that at least works with recent Mesa and AMD, although some have reported breakage with Intel. If you can't get it running, I recommend asking support to give you the non-enhanced edition (Windows only), which works fine under wine. You can also try the Windows version of the EE using recent wine and dxvk, but I haven't tried that myself.

@darktjm
thank you for your kindly reply!
I play the game from a Dell XPS 13 laptop, it has an intel UHD 620 integrated VGA card, the VGA driver comes with lubuntu OS.
I think I'll give wine a try.

I would recommend you try the community-created fix for Linux first, even though as I said, some people have reported crashing with Intel. Maybe that's been fixed. I use AMD, so I can't really test myself. It's much less painful than getting wine to work, and works great if it works.

Works fine here on Arch Linux with Intel graphics (Intel HD 4000), but haven't managed to get it to work on ubuntu with Intel HD 4400?!?

If you have difficulties running Divinity: Original Sin on Linux, you might want to give a try to the dedicated ./play.it script that automatically applies some tweaks to improve compatibility with Mesa drivers (including drivers for Intel chipsets).
Hi and thanks.

I'm trying those scripts and when I try to start the building process from the directory (following the instructions) I´m getting this message

Error:
identify not found. Install it before running this script.

I'm just a linux (mint) user. Any help on how to proceed will be really appreciated. Thanks again.

Neo_Bicho: Error:
identify not found. Install it before running this script.
You need to install the "imagemagick" package, that provides the "identify" command:
sudo apt install imagemagick
Hey, thanks a lot!

But... :-/

When I do as instructed...

imagemagick ya está en su versión más reciente

Imagemagick is already in its most recent version.

I didn't know identify was a command.
If I try typing it, this is what comes out...

Orden «indentify» no encontrada.

Command identify not found, maybe you meant ...

If I try to install any of those packages,
nothing is needed with the first one,
three new files are installed with the second one [here I gooooo :-D ] and
with the third...
Se instalarán los siguientes paquetes adicionales:
graphicsmagick libgraphicsmagick-q16-3
Paquetes sugeridos:
graphicsmagick-dbg
Los siguientes paquetes se ELIMINARÁN:
imagemagick imagemagick-6.q16
Se instalarán los siguientes paquetes NUEVOS:
graphicsmagick graphicsmagick-imagemagick-compat libgraphicsmagick-q16-3

it seems it will install graphismagikc and will uninstall imagemagick and imagemagick-6.q16 so I will hold on till further instructions, if any are due.

Trying the scripts after installing "option 2" (it seems to be as stated in the instructions!)
I'll report back with the result.

Again, thank you very much!

I think the ./play.it script should work as expected as long as one of the three listed packages is available.
The script works (runs) but the game still doesn't load.

Crash! Boom! Bang! (window title)

Game crashed "EoCApp" (3335489216)

Signal: 11

(0) /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpthread.so.0 : +0x12890 [0x7fcbc2752890]

The same result as trying to run without the script. :-\

I'll try to get a refund. :-I

Thank you very much for your help and patience (really appreciated).

Sadly there is not enough details in the error message you get to suggest any useful debug track…

If GOG support manages to help you get the game running, please share the solution here afterwards.
This way, we might be able to update the ./play.it script to avoid this crash.

vv221: If GOG support manages to help you get the game running
That's a big if. When I reported this game not working (in January 2016, before the existing fixes were made), they offered me a refund and changed the system requirements ("Linux notice: before playing the game, please make sure you are using the latest proprietary drivers for your graphics card."). This also means that after they changed the system requirements, anyone using Mesa will never get a refund (unless gog's feeling generous). The best alternative is to try and get the Windows version running. Maybe the latest actually works with recent wine and dxvk. Tracking and fixing crashes requires a lot more effort on everyone's part.
