I'm planning to get the Eternal Edition, because it has pretty much everything in the Divinity series that I would want, unfortunately I may not be able to get it before August 31 when the Definitive Edition will be released.

I am aware that existing owners of D:OS2 will get the Definitive Edition as a free upgrade. But what will happen to the existing editions after August 31? Will they be replaced? Will the Definitive Edition become a separate edition? Or will it be a paid DLC?

I don't want to sound harsh, but that is not particularly helpful. Even more so as it means I would have to create yet another account to ask this question, on a forum I will never use anyway.

But it doesn't matter anymore, since I already reached my self-imposed budget limit for this month and don't intend to buy Divinity before the release of the Definitive Edition.

This most likely course of action on the part of GOG and Larian Studios would be what happened with the first Divinity: Original Sin. Once the Enhanced Edition launched, the original was removed from the storefront. People who already owned the original before the enhanced edition launched were allow to keep it.

I'd imagine this will be the same for Divinity: Original Sin 2. Also, changes: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1IcADAJsLeHHXYjCnR5MwCm9GTWRdKzRtIYcCqO_RI6U/edit

Thanks, I figured the original edition would be removed yes, but I was wondering what would then happen to the Eternal Edition. Since it includes the D:OS Enhanced Edition, I would expect the original D:OS2 edition to be replaced with the Definitive Edition, but I can't be certain of course.

Nevertheless, I bought the Eternal Edition a couple days ago anyway, since I got too excited to wait, so this problem is now moot anyway :)
