I just bought D2 Gold and I want to play it windowed as my native resolution is 1920x1200 on a 24" screen. Playing in any resolution fullscreen is just plain ugly :(

I've selected D3D in the config tool and also tried the usual -w or -windowed in the shortcut.

All I ever get is the error message "Can't Initialize Disciples II"

Can anyone give me some advice please :)

If you find the games folder look for a config or ini configuration file and open it with notepad. It should have a fullscreen= rule you can change to false or something along those lines that will put the game into windowed mode.
