Hey all,

I bought Disciples 2 yesterday and I'm a little confused about the .exe files:

Is it better to play Dark Prophecy for the first 2 campaigns, and then switch to Rise of The Elves afterwards, or can I just use Rise Of The Elves for everything?

I started a new saga in Dark Prophecy and it gave me the choice of 2 campaigns to play, whereas launching a new saga in RoTE it just starts from the first quest from the DP saga (I'm currently playing Legion Of The Damned) but does not give a choice of which campaign to play.

I have a feeling that in RoTE I can just play each the saga for each race from beginning to end, but before I get started I thought I'd ask to clarify this. I have looked around but I didn't find anything about this specifically..or if I did I missed it.

Many thanks in advance!

Sorry for the double post, I'm at work via my phone and the internet is not terrific, please delete the double post :)

Dark Prohecy is the frist release and the "Basegame", it contains 4 Campagins that tell you a story together, from different views and/or different parts of the timeline. If you like the Disciples Lore/Setting play them all ;)

Guardians was the next release and contained the original campaigns for the Mountain Clans and Empire as well as two new mini campaigns of 3 missions for these factions, if i remember right you could use your hero from the original campaigns.

Servants of the dark was the third release and contained the original campaigns for the Legion and the undead as well as two new mini campaigns that allowed to use a imported hero.

Those three together are called Galleans return.

Next the Rise of the Elves was released, it had all base campaigns and a new campaign telling the story of the elves.
Because of several gameplay adjustments it did not combine with the base game or Galleans return

The Gold-version contained all releases in a updated form+a number of extras like scenarios, art,...

Story&lore-wise you could/should play all Basecampaigns+Rise of the Elves and then continue with the Minicampaigns that expand the story but you want lose much if you play one faction-story+expansion and then switch to the next faction.

Edit:If you play the basecampaign via Rise of the Elves you might be unable to use your Hero for the Gallean expansions...because i am not sure if this problem is fixed with the gog-version
