me and my new artist are creating new artworks for The Hell 2 mod. they are hand made and doctored on later stages.

He seems to have just sensed this mean-spirited mob of Doom Guards behind his back. I like it altogether; but also get this feeling like looking at baroque art: jeesus, why this blunt glorification and this pose, why is this unrealistic lighting cast on him just perfectly to make him look extra heroic, why not picture his disquietude, his anguish and fatigue?

it's hard to control the process and make an artist do exactly what you want. their skill and habits, their mood, it all manifests in the end. it still took many revisions until i was ok with the final look. these drawings are different. players can get gored as well. this one turned out to be this way.

Is that for the load screen?

there are no plans to use this as a loading screen, it's just a drawing. i don't really know what i wwould do with it. maybe use as an illustration for posts, or maybe add these to a guide, or just create an artbook with these.

The "unrealistic lighting" that was previously mentioned could be accounted for if this warrior is a Paladin. They kinda have their own internal light radiation thing goin on.

But as much as I dig this drawing, I'm not sure that I'd guess this was related to the Diablo franchise. But I'm not sure that matters, as art always lies in the eyes of the beholder.

Anyways, great work! Any other drawings, please give them a post! I for one would love to see 'em.

the talent and skill aren't mine. it's the artist's. she drew all of it. i designed it and wrote down the task. and controlled the process and end result mercilessly. she had to redraw shield, helmet of the warrior and some scenery multiple times before i felt like it's alright now. she doesn't even play games at all. let alone diablo 1. =]

there are other drawings, around 10 i think, but they are directly related to the mod and would not be that much recognizable by d1 players. that's why i posted this one: it shows hell, warrior, some black knights, full helmet, the tier 3 shield, some gore. everything d1 players are used to.
