Hello everybody,
is it possible to transfer items between your characters using battle net on your own?
For example, creating a game, then run a second instance of diablo, and your second character joining the same game you created before.

Because of limited inventory, it would be very handy to store items which adds magic in order to read books.
And having items if one wants to play a new class.

Thanks in advance.
I think you can technically drop your items on the ground, leave the game you created and enter that same game with a different character.
BUT! Battle.net might close the game before you have a chance to get back into it, meaning you'll lose everything, so I wouldn't advise it.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Edit: Disregard what I said. Thanks, tailtrail, for correcting me.

This worked in Diablo2, at least at some point, but does not work in diablo1. The game session is closed down the second the last player leaves.

You need someone else to keep the game session open while you switch characters. If you don't have anyone you trust who can keep a game session open, you could look up a public normal difficulty game, enter, drop your stuff in town, switch characters and come back to pick them up. You of course run the risk of having those items stolen, or that the session is closed during the switch...
Or you could use that Diablo Stash mod someone posted a while ago. It allows you to give items to Gillian (she is the actual stash) then save and just load a different character and she will still have the items given to her by the previous Characters.

You are attempting a legitimate item transfer on one computer, correct?

If so, use VMware (Virtual Machine) and emulate Windows 95 or 98. Install the game to the emulated hard drive in VMware. Then try an IPX network game item transfer (VMware has user-friendly networking options). Workstation Pro gets it done.

I'm doing item transfers with 2 laptops on an offline wired network, and it was SO easy to setup item transfers over IPX thanks to GOG!
